…in
the extraordinary delivery of interpretative talent of the young clarinetist,
Carlos Céspedes.
In Fact, everything was a mix of these three suggestions, specially
the excellent work of the soloist. I do not remember a performer which
qualities and technical capacities like him in Olavarría.
The last concert bring us the gift of a symphonic concert for clarinet,
which his performer turned out to be one of the most talented young
values that amazed the public of Olavarría, with his interpretation
of the Weber work.

It
was an excellent concert which showed that the jury’s verdict
–giving Carlos Céspedes the first prize-
was right.
Then Céspedes appeared and showed how to perform
the beautiful work of Von Weber. This Piece allowed
him to demonstrate both aspects of performance, the long ,warm phrasing
and virtuosity. It was a successful performance of the musician, endowed
with a beautiful sound in the 1st and 2nd octave, and also with an excellent
and clean articulation. The very good predisposition of the string group
and the conduction, allowed to reach the level needed for a first prize.

The
last piece of this first part of the program was a composition of Karl
Maria Von Weber: Fantasy and Rondo op.34, for solo clarinet and string
orchestra. Carlos Cespedes –the winner of the first prize- was
the performer. The way and the perfection in which Carlos developed
his roll as soloist, performing an extreme technical and musical complex
work, was from every point of view outstanding.

But the highest point of interest was the “Introduction,Theme
and Variations” of Rossini, a work on a theme
of “La Donna del lago” Opera, precisely from the “Mura
Felice” Aria. This piece is arranged for clarinet and orchestra.
The Soloist was the young and notable Carlos Céspedes,
who borned in Salta. He is living now in Buenos Aires improving his
knowledge in Clarinet. In fact he has won every competition he has attended,
and he is prepared to go to USA to another international competition.
Definitely he is an outstanding musician. The Weber piece allowed to
show him as a virtuous, endowed with an excellent technical support
and also with an exquisite cantabile. Because of that, the hearing can
easily reach emotive feelings. It’s fair to affirm that Carlos
Céspedes is one of the most attractive musicians in
the new generation.

Carlos Cespedes, one of the most outstanding soloists
of the new generation of argentine performers, who won the Consecration
Prize last year given by the Banco Mayo Foundation. The work of Rossini,
with its gradually more complex variations, allowed the clarinetist
to show his even tone. He also demonstrated that for him it is easy
to play fast passages with a clean staccato even when that kind of articulation
is not simple to solve in the clarinet.

Two
outstanding Argentinean Musicians, who won many prizes in Argentina
and aboard, performed a memorable chamber music concert at the Auditorium
of the CAECE University. Carlos Céspedes was
the clarinetist and Paula Peluso the pianist. They
started the concert with the unknown Adagio and Allegro op. 70 of Schumann.
The interpretation has both, sweet “pianissimos” and complete
“fortes”. The sweet sound of the clarinet amalgamate perfectly
with the worm tone of the piano, obtaining an orchestral sound that
favored this romantic work. With the first Rhapsody of Debussy,
the clarinetist expresses, with his instrument, a more modern tone.
That Debussy piece challenges the performer with its different changes.
Then with a virtuous ability of fingers arrived the end of the concert,
when the 3 pieces of Stravinsky (for solo clarinet)
have been performed with a big demonstration of virtuosity.

| Then
appear the outstanding clarinetist Carlos Céspedes,
who recently came back of Mexico City, where he performed as winner
of the “1997 Argentinean Music competition”, interpreting
there the second Weber Concert with the Mexico Philharmonic
Orchestra. This time he performed pieces for solo clarinet of Juan
C. Biondo. He could overcome brilliantly extreme difficulties
without grate effort.

Was
an excellent concert the one that developed the trio Céspedes
(clarinet), Pérez Tedesco (violoncello), Telerman
(Piano), in the fifth function of the cycle Ars Nobilis. The “Allegro
con brio” allowed to appreciate the big and extensive sound of
Carlos Cespedes, clarinetist that also have a clear
articulation and an enormous physical capacity to administer the air.

The
Clarinetist Carlos Céspedes and the pianist
Paula Peluso had one more time the opportunity to show
their outstanding and innate musical capacity at the Concert Hall, of
the CAECE University. The round and extensive sound (inclusive in the
extreme high -often shrill- register) together with a deep expressivity
and a truly amazing finger technique, brilliantly match with the pianist
interpretation. She deserves the same complements, because she could
remove a marvelous sound of the piano.

| It’s
comforting to found argentinean musicians of this level, as the members
of the Buenos Aires Classic Group who play in trios,
quartets or quintets. Is that Stella Maris Marrello, Natalia
Silipo, Carlos Céspedes, Ernesto Imsand and Marcos
Puente Olivera give musicality lessons at the Club Hípico.
… the Concert piece Nº2, for clarinet, bassoon and piano
of Mendelssohn. The incisive ingenious game an the romantic vein are
show in the pure and delightful phrasing of Céspedes’s
clarinet, opposite with a flexible bassoon, both supported by the piano
that remind as the fantastic scherzi of the german composer.
